Bentley- 2 months old

That face and those cheeks are to die for!

  Going for a walk

Bentley LOOOVES his bath.  He usually gets a bath in the morning and night because he spits up so much.  He just stares at us and splashes around.  For the first month he would scream the second we pulled him out of the water but he is much better now

Trying out the swing.   Not a fan of it so far.

The first awake smiles we captured on camera

I am quite certain Bentley has acid reflux as he spits up all the time.  I have cleaned the couch and carpets over and over again.  He gets a bath twice a day, his outfit changed 2-3 times a day, and laundry must be done every 2-3 days (or every day at its worst)

Bentley has found his hands and loves to stare at them and chew on them

Bentley still loves his play mat, but seems to like laying on the couch staring out the window more.

He likes being held up on my shoulder, but hates when john tries to hold him like that.  John has a special way to hold him on his leg that Bentley loves

Right around 2 months (June 3), he really started to smile a lot.  He will usually smile if we are smiling at him.  He recently started laughing and "talking" (cooing) a lot too.   It is my favorite thing to listen to ever

At 2 months he still wears size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothes.

I am still pumping and feeding him breast milk in a bottle.  He gets mostly breast milk, but gets formula when we are out of the house and at nights.   Bentley used to drink 3-4 ounces each feeding, but recently slowed down to just 2-3 ounces per feeding.   He drinks very little in the mornings and then in the evenings he drinks bottle after bottle.

The last 3 nights he has slept 8 hours in a row, so hoping that will last.  Before this week he would do that once a week, but then go back to waking up after 3-4 hours

Bentley is such a joy to have in our lives.  He brings a lot of happiness and we sure love him!

Bentley- 1 month old

We had this pink playmat from when Brynlee was a baby.  She never really liked it that much and would only lay on it quietly for a few minutes at a time.  Bentley, however, will spend an hour sometimes staring at the hanging toys and sometimes longer if we turn on the fireplace so he can watch that too.

Brynlee loves to get down on the floor and play with Bentley.  He usually likes to watch her, but he does not like when her hair gets in his face or when her ice cold hands touch him.

He also likes to be in his crib for a few minutes at a time watching the monkey mobile.

Those adorable cheeks and lips...

This was a cold day so he went back to his newborn winter outfit.  He slept so much that day.  Bentley loves warm and fuzzy clothes and blankets.

On April 23rd, he had his 1 month check up.  He weighed 9 pounds 1 ounce, was 21 1/4 inches long, and head size was 38 cm.

Clothes and diapers:  Even though he is still under the weight limit for newborn diapers, he was peeing through them several times in 1 day, so we went up to size 1.  Kind of sucks because I still have tons of newborn diapers and tons of size 2, but will have to most likely buy more size 1 diapers.  I thought for a while I wouldn't have to buy any diapers with this kid but it doesn't look that way anymore.  He was too long for his newborn clothes also, so is wearing size 0-3 month clothes.

Eating and sleeping:  He is quite a restless sleeper and often does not sleep for hours at a time.  He sleeps better in our room when it is quiet and dark versus in the living room bouncy seat.  He does better at night thankfully sleeping for 2-4 hours at a time, depending on how much he ate at the last feeding.  If he drank 4 ounces he will sometimes sleep for 4 hours.  If he only drinks 2 ounces before he falls asleep, he will most likely only sleep 2 hours.  He also seems to be a snacker and drinks a little here and there.  It makes it really hard to keep track of how much he ate and when he slept, etc.  Bentley gets 1-3 bottles of formula at night.  Usually he just gets 2 bottles but sometimes I am too tired to go downstairs and warm up breastmilk and formula is so much easier.  The rest of the time he gets breastmilk that I pump every 4 hours.  I almost gave up pumping because Bentley would cry almost every time I was pumping or Brynlee needed me, or very often both.  I was so stressed out.  I started to wean the pumping, but then found that every 4 hours is manageable versus every 2-3 hours that I was doing before.

Bentley loves being held and usually sleeps longer if he is being held.  He also loves fuzzy blankets and we often don't even swaddle him anymore, he just wants a fuzzy blanket.

Bentley's first baby tub bath was on April 24th, after the doctor said his circumcision was healed enough.  At first he hated it, but now he looooves the bath, especially when we use the lavender soap and lotion.  It makes him so calm after the bath and he goes to sleep soon after.  He is so calm during the bath, but as soon as I take him out he starts screaming until he is dry and clothed and held.
He hates sitting in a dirty diaper and also does not like being "dirty".  Since he isn't crawling around in the dirt its hard for him to get dirty, but at the end of the day after a lot of spit up and sweat, he smells bad and he does not like feeling like that either.  So he gets a bath every morning and almost every night also.

Bentley hates being cold and getting in and out of the carseat.  He cries almost every single time.  As soon as his carseat is in motion (stroller or car) he is fine and usually goes to sleep.

Most nights as soon as Brynlee is in bed, Bentley starts his nightly screaming ritual.  He cries 1-3 hours each night.  Last night was the first night he didn't do that and I am hoping (but not counting on it) he has grown out of that.  He doesn't scream non-stop, he will cry for several minutes, then calm down for a few minutes, then repeat over and over again.  John and I just pass him back and forth when we get frustrated and try everything we know of to get him to stop.  He just seems to have to stop on his own or he wears himself out crying.

He seems to be a momma's boy as he cries a lot with John for whatever reason.  I love to hold and stare at him and would do it all day if I didn't have other things I had to do.  We sure love this kid and the joy he brings to our home :)
