Falling down the stairs x 2

The week before Mother's Day I was taking a load of toys down to the basement when I slipped near the bottom.  My right leg was all twisted and it is amazing I wasn't hurt worse (broken ankle/ leg).  I got carpet burn on the top of my foot.  It was sore for a few weeks and bruised up pretty good all the way up to my knee, but it never really hurt too much.   I was also extremely grateful I wasn't holding one of the kids or still pregnant. 

A few weeks after my fall, john fell on the other stairs moving some boxes.  His foot had some swelling and a tiny bit of bruising, but his was way more painful.  He ended up going to the insta care to get it checked because he was having a hard time walking on it.  After a few x rays he was diagnosed with a torn ligament.  No crutches or splint were necessary thank goodness.  Now both of us are scared to go down the stairs, especially holding the baby.  We will be glad to get out of this house that has so many stairs.

My OB doctors office sent me these flowers a few weeks after Bentley was born.  I thought it was awesome they do that.

Visit with Kim

My BFF Kim lives in Denver with her family and we haven't seen each other in 3 years (both of our older kids were babies).  She was going to be in Salt Lake for a week with her kids, so we decided to make a quick trip up to Provo.  We stayed in a hotel and met up with Kim and her kids at the park.  Brynlee and Alex are only a few months apart and Kim also has a 1 year old son (Korbyn).  The kids had a great time at the splash pad until it wouldn't work anymore.  So then we got a blanket out and sat in the shade.  John picked up some pizzas and after lunch it was time to head home already.  It was a very short trip, but I'm glad we got to go.

 

Korbyn has a rare lung disease and has to wear oxygen.  Poor guy.

St. George Children's Museum

Grandma Miller took Brynlee and Jaxon to the new St. George Children's Museum.  They had a great time and we love that it is free to get in!

 

 

More about Bentley at 2 months

 

Lately, Bentley has set his bedtime around 8 PM OR midnight.  He usually gets cranky around 8/ 8:30 so we give him a bath and a bottle.  After he falls asleep we carry him upstairs to the bassinet.  If he gets woken up (from me taking a picture of him or when we pass him around) and has been asleep for 20 minutes or more, he will then be awake for several more hours.  Basically he gets a little cat nap and he is rested for a while.  So we figured out after he falls asleep, we wait about 10 minutes then take him upstairs.  The picture above is one night after our failed 8 PM bedtime attempt.  He was swadled and stayed that way under his play mat for a while. 

Bentley smiles all the time and even laughs sometimes.  He loves it when we talk to him in a baby/high pitched voice.  He also "talks"/coos a lot.  He tries to copy the sounds we make.

This was a few hours after his first shots.  He was a little sad and got a slight fever that day and night, but he also had been a little sick before the shots so the fever could have been from that.

Bentley had his 2 month check up on June 13th.  We went to a new doctor and new office because I did not like that his old doctor didn't listen to me at all.  Here are his 2 month stats:

12.1 pounds (47th percentile)

23.82 inches long (71st percentile)

16 inch head circumference (57th percentile)

Everyone says how he is such a big boy, but he is only in the 47th percentile so that is not big at all...  I am glad he is tall and sort of skinny and hope he will stay that way (Brynlee was as a baby and still is now).
We finally got a prescription medication for Bentley's acid reflux.  The doctor said it most likely wouldn't help the spitting up, just make it so he is less fussy and uncomfortable.  Well, the good news is that it is helping his spit-up, but it costs $63 a month and he has to drink it twice a day.  It's a small enough amount that putting it in a bottle wouldn't work, but it requires 1 1/2 droppers and he spits it out if we don't get it in the right place in his mouth.  It is over $1 a dose.  We still mix gripe water in with his bottles, rub essential oils on his feet twice a day, and I can't eat dairy still.  I stopped dairy when he was a newborn because he would scream for hours every night.  About 2 weeks ago I thought maybe I could try dairy again because he hadn't had those crying spells in weeks.  But it was incredible the amount of spit-up that increased just when I have dairy.  We had finally gotten to where I only had to do laundry every 3-4 days (instead of just 2 days), and then it suddenly got way worse.  So I had to stop dairy again and will be off it for a while until I decide to chance it again in a few months. 
I am planning on pumping breastmilk until January.  I make enough to feed him in a day, plus can freeze an 8 oz bag every day or so also.  So after January we should be able to use the frozen breastmilk until he turns 1 in April.  I am currently pumping just 4 times a day, which is manageable.  I don't enjoy it, but am glad Bentley does not have to be on formula right now.

Bentley is still in size 1 diapers, but when they are gone we will go up to the size 1/2 diapers. He poops once every 3 days or so, but when he does it is a huge mess!  Bentley has peed on me 6 times since he was born and twice on John.  It has been a while though since he has done that so maybe we got smarter and faster. Bentley is still able to fit in 0-3 clothes, but because of his length the buttons are getting tighter.

He can entertain himself for a long time, sometimes hours on his play mat, the couch, or bouncy seat.  He loves to suck, chew, and lick his hands and fingers.  He also likes to stare at his hands while he holds them in the air in front of his face.  Bentley has his hands and arms up like a boxer a lot and if you get close to his face, he will punch you.

It looks like Bentley's left eye is lazy.  He has been cross-eyed a lot since he was born, but that is normal for a couple of months.  Then the day before his doctor appointment, I noticed it was just the left eye and the doctor noticed it at his appointment.  Unless we want to go to Salt Lake to see the opthamologist there, we will just watch and wait and hope it will get better on its own.

Mother's Day 2014

The ward delivered Hershey bars a few days before Mothers Day.  I had no idea it was sitting on our doorstep and apparently it was hot and it melted.  One morning john walked out the front door and stepped on it.  I thought it was pretty funny even though I did not get to enjoy the chocolate.

This was my attempt to get a cute picture with my cute kids.  It was the best I could do.

I was hoping for a long nap that day, but Bentley decided to cry all afternoon.  I think I slept for like 10 minutes, which is better than nothing I guess.  Brynlee took a nap that day which was very unexpected (and took some bribing).  We invited my mom over to Millers house for dinner and the boys cooked hamburgers.  It was a pretty good day

Matthew and Lindsay get married!

Matthew & Lindsay got married on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the SUU cabin on Cedar Mountain.  Lindsay's family had decorated the place (inside and out) really cute.

 

 

         Brynlee and Anna as flower girls.  They were so cute together.  I didn't know Brynlee was going to be a flower girl until right before the ceremony.  Brynlee was nervous and wouldn't throw the flower petals, but at least she walked with Anna and looked cute.  The girls were up on the stairs with the wedding party during the short ceremony and Brynlee looked down at me and waved about 10 times.

 

  Both Lindsay and her Dad were crying the second they walked in, which made me tear up.  I am not usually emotional during weddings, but it was really sad thinking about Lindsay's mom that wasn't there (she died unexpectedly 6 months before).

Lindsay had 2 male bridesmaids, it was pretty funny.  Lindsay has mostly guy friends so it made sense.

Not the best picture, but now they are husband and wife.  Lindsay wore my wedding dress and it fit her perfectly.  That dress has gotten it's moneys worth by now after 3 brides :)

What a cute couple they are!  We are so happy to have Lindsay in the family!
