Christmas Tree

John the Lumberjack

We went to Veyo to get a permit, then drove up in the mountains for a little while to find our tree. I was picturing snow and drinking hot chocolate as we did this because I've never cut down a Christmas tree before. But it was a tiny bit cold and I wouldn't have been too happy if it was much colder or there was snow to trek through.

Pointing to our perfect tree!

Cutting down the tree

John does all the dirty work and I just supervise. My only job is to carry the ax and not amputate anyone's limbs. It was hard, but we all survived.

Apparently the ornaments are too heavy. Who knew tiny ornaments could cause a tree to fall over?

Behold the finished product. (Don't mind the rest of the room, it is very much a work in progress as we finish the basement).

Birthday and Thanksgiving

Birthday card from John's parents. It's hilarious and very true (sometimes)!

I drove into the garage and this is what I saw. John had bought a deep freezer for me. It's very nice to have. And yes, that is a Finding Nemo border, courtesy of my Dad. I guess he wants to keep us all young or something.

I also got cute house decorations, Olive Garden gift card, books, and lots of money. It was a good day. We went to Samurai 21 for dinner, which is my favorite restaurant. Expensive, but oh so good and worth it a few times a year.

For Thanksgiving, we stayed in town and went to John's parents. It was quiet but we had a good time and enjoyed tons of great food. I am so thankful for all the many blessings I have in my life.
