I realize I'm falling back into my old bad blogging habits, but there's just not a lot of extra time. I wanted to plant a few things in our small backyard, so pots was the only way to go. I planted lettuce, onions, and carrots (so far). It only took about 10 days for these little green things to sprout up. I was truly shocked because I do not have a green thumb. In fact, more like the black thumb of death. I bought a book and it's helped some, but I still don't really know what I'm doing. My mom always had a garden growing up, but I didn't really want anything to do with it, so this could be interesting. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to know when the veggies are ready to be picked, but this is the best way to figure it out- by trial and error.

We also got called to be Primary teachers in our ward- the 4 and 5 year olds! That's exactly the calling I wanted and I really like it so far. John teaches Elder's quorom on the 4th Sunday of the month (which of course was the first time we were supposed to teach), so I was on my own the first day. They are super cute and actually seem to be better behaved than the 7 year olds from a few weeks ago. And they seemed to know the answers much better too. I think we will enjoy it.

Weekend in Las Vegas- March 13-15

I went to Las Vegas for the weekend with my "New York friends"- the girls I met when we all lived in New York City at the same time. Becca lives in the Provo area and Jeni lives in Mesa, Arizona. Jeni flew into Vegas and Becca and I drove down and picked her up at the airport on Saturday morning. I am seriously retarded when it comes to time zone changes. We had plenty of time to kill, so Becca and I decided to go to a dollar store and get some balloons for the airport and some fun treats. But then I got lost on the way to the airport so we barely made it in time. We had a sign with Jeni's name on it and stood in the airport looking confused. Jeni saw us right away, but it was still hilarious and we caused quite a scene in the airport. After a while, we decided to check in to the Sahara hotel and find some food. It turned out there was a really good restaurant in our hotel, so we all ate some delicious hamburgers and fries.

This first picture might seem weird, but John and I watch the show Man vs. food sometimes on TV. This restaurant was on the show a while ago, but the host was unable to eat the burrito in the time alloted. This guy was just started the challenge when we got there. They have 90 minutes to eat it, but are not allowed to get up. There were only a few people that have ever completed the challenge, but hundreds that have tried. I imagine it's the amount of cheese and sour cream that makes it almost impossible, because the burrito itself didn't look that big to me. In fact, I have probably eaten that much in one sitting before.


Our goal for the trip was to spend the least amount of money but still have fun. There are tons of free things to look at and do in Vegas just walking down the strip. These were lions in one of the casino's.

Jeni was looking all over for the perfect virgin Pina Colada cup! She drank most of that (and enjoyed it). There were so many people that were drinking even bigger cups full of alcohol. Yikes!

We had so much fun relaxing and playing in Vegas. We wish it was warmer, but we had fun anyway. I'm so glad I have these friends in my life! I am so lucky!
