Loves Baby Einstein movies that have animals in them. Is bored with the other ones.
Sucks, bites, or chews on EVERYTHING!
Likes non-baby toys more than baby toys (car keys, cell phones, plastic cups, etc.)
Loves any toy that makes sound and she can chew on it
Started rice cereal around 4 months, then added veggies and fruits. But Brynlee would only eat a few bites before she was done. So I gave up and waited until almost 7 months and she enjoys it much more now. Although it seems to change daily, at this point she seems to like veggies more than fruit. Which is good because that is what I was trying to do. Some things like applesauce and yogurt she acts like she is eating a lemon with the sour face and the body shuddering. What's funny is she does that the whole time, not just the first bite. Brynlee seems to like adult food more than baby food also and she pretty much grabs what is in my hand and tries to eat it. She was having a blast with a cherry, grape, and carrot.
It's pretty easy to get Brynlee to laugh or smile. She smiles for most strangers. Her laugh is just the cutest thing. Like most parents, we will do anything to get her to laugh or smile.
Brynlee rolls over like crazy. We had to put a stair gate up in the living room because she can roll across the room in 30 seconds if she wants. She doesn't usually cry when she is on her belly anymore and she can lift herself up about 90 degrees to get ready to crawl. She can scoot around a little on her back or belly and turn around in circles.
We put her to sleep on her back, but if she gets her arms out of the swaddle, she loves to sleep on her side or belly. Often she will sleep for an extra hour if she is on her belly (which is nice in the morning).
For the last last 1-2 months Brynlee has been going to bed around 8 PM and wakes up around 8 or 8:30 AM. If we are lucky and everything is going according to plan, she will take 3 naps during the day. Brynlee needs a quiet, dark room and her arms swaddled or she will keep herself awake playing.
Gives "kisses". She grabs my face and kind of sucks on my cheek. She also leaves a slobbery wet spot but I love it. She won't do it to John though, I'm guessing because he doesn't shave his face everyday. She won't do it on command either.
Can stand by herself for about 10 seconds if she is holding onto something like a chair. But not able to sit independently yet.
Says "ba-ba" and squeals with happiness often. She is a very noisy baby whether she is happy or not. Also makes a lot of other noises while sticking her tongue out and has an annoying grunting/angry sound. I haven't figured out if she does it when she's bored or if she just likes the sound.
Has learned how to pull mommy's hair and everyone's arm or leg hair. She pulls hard and I tell her "No" and Brynlee laughs. Everytime. It's kind of hard to get mad at her.
Brynlee is constantly in motion. It's getting hard to feed her a bottle because she doesn't want to sit still for even a few minutes. She finally compromised by kicking her legs and playing with something in her hands while she is eating. She is kicking her legs or moving her hands while we are holding her or in her car seat also. Even when she is sleeping we hear her thrashing around in her bed at night. Recently I held a few babies that just sat in my arms and cuddled and I was a little (maybe a lot) jealous. But then I realized with Brynlee constantly being in motion it wears her out and she sleeps so good (most of the time). So I guess it's a trade-off. When Brynlee does cuddle it makes it even better.
6 month stats:
16.9 lbs (66th percentile)
26 inches long (56th percentile)
Oh how we love Brynlee and the love and laughter she has brought into our home. Not a day goes by that I am not laughing at something she did. I am so happy to have Brynlee in my life!
