Bentley at 9 months

Bentley turned 9 months on January 3, 2015

Here is what he is up to:

Will give you a hug if you fake cry
Still no teeth
He is a fast crawler
Says dada and mama (mama usually just when he is crying)
Waves on command ( wave to him or say bye-bye)
Likes to look at books
Can sort of say moo on command
Loves farm animal sounds
Is the biggest pain ever to change his diaper or clothes.  He twists and turns all over the place.
Still loves soft and fuzzy blankets and will bury his face in it every time you give him a blanket.
Loves all foods and baby puffs
Loves playing with toys
Loves climbing up stairs
Loves to get into EVERYTHING
Is walking around furniture
Thinks tv remotes and cell phones are the best toys ever ( we tend to disagree)
6-9 month clothes are too short on him (both arms and legs), but 9-12 month clothes are too long and the pants are way baggy.
Wears size 3 diapers

Currently he is on Alimentum formula.  He was switched to that formula on December 10, 2014 in hopes of curing his sleeping/crying problems.  We had a slow transition from breastmilk (with small amounts of formula) to all formula starting in September/October.  He started acting fussy more in October and it just kept getting worse each week.  Then he had the ear infection at the beginning of November and it was all downhill from there.  He would just cry and scream and not go to sleep every night.  Together John and I could barely handle him.  And with work and school it was not pleasant for us to be up all night with Bentley EVERY NIGHT!

Out of desperation I took him to a chiropractor who thought he might have a milk intolerance, so we switched to a sensitive formula.  That helped, but not enough and eventually we switched to Alimentum formula which still has a tiny bit of milk in it (so is not for severe milk allergy), but very little and that helped a lot.  The cans are $30 each and last about 5 days!!!!  We did find some cheaper through ebay and an online yard sale, but it is still hard to pay that much money.

Bentley started having problems with keeping up his weight around this time too, even though the Alimentum formula completely cured his acid reflux, so he no longer spits up at all.  So that makes a lot of sense- he stops barfing all day and then starts to lose weight.  At 7 months he weighed 17.2 pounds.  At 8 months he weighed 17.9 pounds.  That is the day we switched to the Alimentum formula and the NP wanted to recheck his weight 2 weeks later.  At that weight check he was down to 17.5 pounds, and 2 weeks later he was down to 17.4 pounds.
It's not a large amount of weight he is losing, but he should not be losing weight at all.  His height is growing so that is good.  He went from the 44th percentile at 4 months down to the 6th percentile at 9 months for weight.  For height he is18.3 inches which is in the 80th percentile at 9 months.

The NP was confused as to how he could be getting taller but losing weight.  She said a lot of the scary diseases such as Celiac and Cystic Fibrosis have weight loss, but also do not gain height.  So hopefully he does not have those disease, but when we get his weight checked again at 11 month they will do testing if he continues to lose weight.

Bentley had his 2nd ear infection diagnosed at a well check on 1/14/15.  I had no idea he had an ear infection, he wasn't acting any different than usual.  He had been eating fine before that, but suddenly he started to gag and throw up anything that was textured (textured baby food, scrambled eggs) and not pureed.  Not good for the weight loss!!!

Hopefully we can get him back to where he wants to eat food.  Currently he loves baby puffs and can eat 100-200 at a time if we let him.

Funny story from January 22:
Bentley likes to knock over the shampoo and soap bottles on the side of the tub.  Tonight he waved at them every time before he knocked them off

He loves to climb anything, but sometimes he doesn't know how to get down and is not too happy

Here he is climbing the tv stand

Loving the lemon at Red Robin.
I had fries on my plate and wasn't looking for 1 second and bentley saw his opportunity.  He grabbed a handful of fries and shoved them all in his mouth before I could even blink.

Gotta have a couple of sleeping pictures to remind myself that he did sleep sometimes

Crawling on daddy, one of his favorite things to do
