Bentley turned 1- April 3, 2015!

Falling asleep in his high chair at 6 pm because he wouldn't nap all day

Here are some crazy things Bentley has done recently:

Puts his arms in the toilet any chance he gets

Recorded 2 shows on the DVR- the queen Latifah show was one of them

When we are watching law and order SVU or friends, bentley loves the into music and will always turn around and sit and watch the tv for a few minutes 

Bentley sticks his hand down his throat and makes himself thrown up.   I have no idea why he does it but I hate it! 

Bentley loves: 

Climbing on anything and everything-  he climbs up then down and up again

Playing with TV remotes or the play station controller

"Talking" to Siri on my iPhone.   He pushes the button repeatedly and she talks back to him 

Looking at books

Playing with balls and pointing out every ball he sees

Playing with his car ramp and train

Going up and down stairs - he thinks it is so fun.   I am surprised how good he is going down stairs.    

Silly songs such as hokie pokie and old McDonald.  He loves story time at the library 

Food Bentley loves:

Cut up bananas 

Fruit loops

Cheerios

Fruity pebbles 

Wheat bread

Peanut butter sandwiches

Gerber "Cheetos" - not cheese but garden tomato flavored

Black beans

Applesauce

Coconut milk yogurt

Purred carrots 

With his current soy and dairy allergy ( plus lack of teeth) we don't have a lot of choices of what to feed him 

Food Bentley hates:

Strawberries 

Scrambled eggs

Words bentley can say:

Dada

Momma

Ball

Bye bye

Hi

Nana (banana) 

Is starting to say thanks and car

Can "hiss" like a snake

Can sign the word "more", even though he refuses to do it most of the time 

He can blow kisses and give "makeout" kisses- eyes closed and with tongue 

Bentley finally got his first tooth the end of March at about 11.5 months old! It is the bottom left 

Weight: 18.8 lbs (3rd percentile)

Height: 29.76 in (41st percentile)

Head: 18.1 in (37th percentile)

He doesn't look extremely skinny, but average weight for his age is 23 pounds!  

We have had to take him to the doctors office to get weighed almost every month October 

Wears size 3 diapers

Is tall and skinny, so can fit into smaller clothes in the waist, but they are way too short   Right now he is wearing 12-18 month summer clothes but can still fit into 6-12 or 9-12 month

Hates wearing shoes!!  He tries to take them off every second

Can walk across the room sometimes, and other times can only take a few steps before he falls over.   He has his arms out straight in front of him like a zombie, so it is pretty funny to watch.   He still prefers to crawl most of the time 

Sleeping: 

We started cry it out the first week of March.   It wasn't too bad at first, but it just kept getting worse and by a week and a half he was traumatized and so was I.   So we gave up on that    He did finally decide that most nights he will sleep all night, BUT he doesn't go to bed until around 10 pm and he doesn't nap well at all.   He will sleep in my arms for 20-30 minutes around 1 pm.  Then he takes another nap around 4 pm.  He wakes up and screams every time I lay him down for the first nap, so that's why I just let him sleep in my arms.    The 2nd nap he is generally fine in the crib.    There have been many days where he doesn't nap at all and he is a beast!!!   

A couple nights a week he wakes up around 5 am so we give him a bottle in bed.   I know that is not good for his teeth, but our sanity is very important too!   

I have given up hope that he will ever be a good sleeper.  So now I am just waiting for him to be old enough that I can just lock him in his room with toys so that mom and dad can sleep
