John and I both decided before we even got married to not get our nieces and nephews toys for their birthdays or Christmas, but to take them out and do something fun with them. Last year I took Tyson and Anna to Jumpin Jacks (indoor bouncehouse). This year they wanted to go to Laser Tag. Yes, I realize their birthdays were in November and December (and this was in February), but better late than never. We played glow in the dark mini golf with a black light and attempted bumper cars. Tyson ran into the wall and was scared and Anna couldn't reach the pedals. So we gave up on that, got my money back, and used the money on the arcade games. The games are pretty fun and you win tickets that can be cashed in for prizes. After a little while, they had both played all the tokens and we had a stack of tickets. The kids picked out a bunch of prizes and we went to Wendy's for lunch. It was a fun day and Anna said at least 3 times, "This is the best day of my life". I'm sure Christmas and Disneyland were actually the best days of her life if she actually thought about it, but it was sure cute to hear it. I didn't get any pictures because it's too hard to carry a camera and John was working that day.

This last Saturday, John and I took his niece and nephew to Jumpin Jacks. They had never been there before. Peyton and Tre had a blast running around and going up and down slides. They wore us out. Jumpin Jacks is fun for adults, even if there is a million kids everywhere. After Jumpin Jacks we went to Arctic Circle for ice cream. Yum. I know they had a good time too because Peyton asked her mom about a million times when they could go back to Jumpin Jacks (sorry Holli :)).

We bought a small firepit thinking it would be fun for our backyard in the spring and fall. John bought some Mesquite wood chips and we invited friends over for a barbeque last Saturday night. Of course it was raining, so we tried to put the firepit under the porch and cook the hot dogs while we were inside. Basically it just smoked and smoked and never cooked anything. John burned all of his nose hairs trying to figure out the fire and we all smelled like campfire really bad. We didn't realize how bad it was in the house until later. It smelled like a Las Vegas Casino. If you were to walk in our house on Sunday you would have thought for sure that we started smoking (and never stopped). After airing it out and lots of Febreeze- it smells a lot better but still not great 3 days later. And it's not just on the main floor- but also upstairs and in the basement. Maybe next time we will know better.
