Every year for my Dad's birthday in August we try and get all the kids and grandkids together for a campout. We don't go anywhere far or do anything exotic, but always have a good time. This year we decided to go to John's parent's lot in New Harmony. There isn't a house, but a picnic table, shade, bathroom, grass, and gorgeous views. It would be pretty quiet too if there wasn't a dirt road close by with trucks zooming by all hours of the night. When most of us come from St. George, we want to get out of the heat. New Harmony was perfect temperatures during the day, but definetely got colder than we are used to during the night.
Across the street there is a huge field with horses. Brynlee wanted to go see them so I got a picture. Then, they were right up at the fence. We had some baby carrots to feed them, but I was such a wimp and didn't dare let them eat out of my mind. Partly because I didn't want slobber all over my hand, but also because I didn't know if they would try and bite my fingers off. Then comes Anna and they all congregate around her because she isn't scared of them and feeds them all. It was cute watching the girls with the horses. They had a good time and the horses got a good snack out of it too.

We put Brynlee in her own tent as far away from everyone as we could so that she would go to sleep at a decent hour and not be woken up by sounds. She went to sleep perfect, but woke up at 4 am. She did not go back to sleep, so neither did we. We were up before Grandpa (which is a first). So we sat around the fire, drank hot chocolate, and woke everyone else up a little later.
We had a good time! Even though it's a lot of work setting up tents and sleeping bags for one night and not getting much sleep. But we will do it again next year!
